ABSTRACT:
Nowadays, non-renewable
energy sources come to end, and using these energy sources harm to nature and
the ecosystem is deteriorated. When all of these effects are taken into
account, use of renewable energy sources is highly required; therefore, we handle
sea transportation which is one of the most significant causes of the
pollution; furthermore, for this purpose, we generate the idea that construct
an “unmanned” ship which is reliable, nature friendly and use of renewable
energy from construction material to power system. The modeling of our project
is based on the passenger transport on the Istanbul Bosporus. We generated an
idea of a system which is very similar to the funicular system. There will be steel
ropes laid 26 m (not to block the sea traffic) below of the sea surface between
European and Anatolian sides, and these ropes powered by an engine on land tows
the ship. In this project, main engines and generators on board are not
required, other energy needs of the ship are provided by solar panels, wind
energy and wave energy placed on the ship, resulting in an emission reduction
of almost zero; moreover, with renewable composite construction material use
brings about fully renewable energy ship concept. Dynamic position system is
also included for many reasons: to minimize the rope stresses, to prevent
possible breaks, and to ease of landing. DP system also provides the ship to
work in many weather conditions. The more available space makes the ship
capacity more than the other ships.
